Wilton, CT, July 13th, 2009 – The Wilton Student Summer Playshop will stage “As You Like It,” a William Shakespeare comedy with the familiar themes of love, mistaken identity, romance and misadventure in the woods, at the Wilton Playshop from July 23 through July 25th.

The production will be set in turn of the century France in the time Carnivale. Audiences can expect to join in the fun as the actors romp through the house in a Mardi Gras style parade complete with throw beads and modern references.

Directed by Kevin McGuire, a Wilton High School graduate and alumni of Wilton’s Summer Playshop annual productions, “As You Like It” reunites leading men, leading ladies and Wilton tested crew and directors from High School and Playshop productions of the past.

The play is one of Shakespeare’s best loved comedies. It follows its heroine Rosalind played by Wilton’s Alex Clapp, as she flees persecution in her uncle's court to find safety and eventually love in the Forest of Arden with Orlando, played by Wilton’s Chris Kozlowski. Rosalind is joined in her adventures by her cousin Celia, played by Amy Sullivan and court jester, Touchstone, played by Jack Mason.

“This year we have some of the most well-known and recognizable players of Wilton school stages in recent years all brought together by a director who has added his own whimsical touches to an already fantastical show,” explained Sharon Anderson, producer of “As You Like It”and a graduate of the program. “The Wilton Playshop has produced the Wilton Student Summer Playshop program for more than 25 years as a hands-on educational experience for High School and College students and this year’s “As You Like It” production continues that tradition.

Also appearing in the production from Wilton is Sarah Anderson, Tim and Silvia Cunningham, Bridget Sirotnak, Jenna Mason, Brendan Joyce, Jenna Bauman, Ginger Brooker, Michael Loughlin, Joseph Burgess, Julianne Cantelmi, Taylor Elmasry, Claire Whiten and Christoper Dehn. Kaityln Neuberger from New Canaan is also in the cast.

“As You Like It” opens on Thursday, July 23rd at 8pm with performances on Friday, July 24th at 8pm and Saturday July 25th at 2 and 8pm.
